Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult's relationship began during the filming of X-Men: First Class in 2010, where Lawrence portrayed Mystique and Hoult played Beast. Their on-set chemistry transitioned into a romantic relationship that lasted, with some interruptions, until 2014.
Throughout their time together, the couple maintained a relatively private relationship. Lawrence often spoke fondly of Hoult, describing him as her "best friend" who could make her "laugh harder than anybody." She also humorously noted that they could "eat Cheetos and watch beach volleyball" together, likening themselves to "two perverted Homer Simpsons."
Their relationship faced challenges, particularly due to their rising careers and demanding schedules. They briefly separated in 2013 but reunited shortly after. However, by August 2014, they decided to part ways amicably. Reflecting on the breakup, Lawrence mentioned that concluding both her relationship and her role in The Hunger Games series around the same time led her to question her identity beyond her work and personal life.
Despite their separation, Lawrence and Hoult continued to work together in subsequent X-Men films, including X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), X-Men: Apocalypse (2016), and Dark Phoenix (2019). Their professional collaboration remained strong, with Hoult describing the X-Men cast as a "big family" that had grown up together over the years.
Both have since moved on to new relationships. Hoult began dating model Bryana Holly in 2017, and the couple has two children together. Lawrence married art gallery director Cooke Maroney in 2019, and they have a son named Cy, with another child on the way.
